Frequently Asked Questions

How does heat affect wine?

While there are differing opinions as to the exact temperature at which wine should be stored, the generally accepted range is 55 - 60 degrees Fahrenheit. When wine is stored above this temperature range, it can lose antioxidants and color four times faster than wine stored in a climate-controlled environment.

How does humidity affect wine?

The ideal humidity range for wine storage is 65 - 70%. There is a chance that storing wine in low (or zero) humidity environments over extended periods will dry out your corks. If this happens, air can leak through the cork and degrade the quality of your wine.

What are the most common wine storage options?

To ensure your wines don’t age too quickly because of warm or hot ambient temperatures, you have three general options for wine storage: 1) Buy a wine cooler. 2) Build a wine cellar. 3) Use professional wine storage.

Can red and white wine be stored at the same temperature?

Yes. While red and white wines are normally served at different temperatures, they can be stored at the same temperature.

Can my wine club shipments be directed to a professional storage facility?

Professional storage facilities can accept and store your wine club shipments for you if you also rent a mailbox from the same facility. This will save you the inconvenience of having to be home to sign for wine deliveries.
